Notion has released version 3.4, an update that shifts focus toward intelligent data automation. The headline feature is AI Autofill, which lets Custom AI Agents populate and keep database fields updated automatically. This goes beyond simple suggestions: the system enriches existing entries or creates new ones by leveraging available context, cutting down manual data entry and cleanup work.

Cost Savings and Transparency
Running these agents costs significantly less now. Notion reports a 35-50% drop in operational expenses thanks to new optimized language models that use roughly ten times fewer credits than before. For transparency, there’s a fresh dashboard showing in real time how much each agent eats into your credit budget. Starting May 4th, Custom AI Agents will run on a separate credit-purchase system rather than being bundled with your base subscription.

New Connections and Automations
Integration reach extends beyond Notion’s walls. Agents can now tap into private Slack channels, pulling relevant information from restricted conversations. Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, and Salesforce connectors are on the roadmap, broadening the integration ecosystem. A dedicated n8n integration also lets you trigger existing automations and coordinate workflows across apps through APIs.

General Improvements and Controls
On the broader side, AI-generated Meeting Notes are now customizable, letting you adjust format and tone to fit your team’s needs. Page rendering is faster, making the interface snappier as you navigate. There’s also a new database permissions setting that lets people create pages without granting access to the full content, giving you tighter control over internal sharing.
