Floxtop uses on-device AI to organize your Mac files, no cloud required

Floxtop brings on-device AI to Mac file organization, letting you automatically sort and rename files based on content without any cloud uploads.

No login, no IP stored.

Floxtop tackles Mac file organization with artificial intelligence, but with one key difference from most similar tools: everything runs on your device, with no data sent to external servers.

The app, previously called Fallinorg before its rebranding, works on Macs with Apple Silicon and requires at least macOS 15. You create a category by describing what type of files it should hold, say “Invoices and receipts”, and Floxtop analyzes files you drag over to decide where they belong, examining both text and images.

What’s new

The most interesting update is the Smart Rename feature, which suggests descriptive file names based on content: a generic “Screenshot 2026-01-31.png” can become “Flight booking confirmation.png”. This feature requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) with Apple Intelligence enabled.

For category management, you can now set a default folder for all categories at once, speeding up initial setup. Categories can be toggled on and off without deleting them, and sorted by name or creation date. Batch selection with bulk actions is now available, and destination suggestions take into account the group of files together, not just individual files.

Floxtop uses a one-time license model with no subscription required. Basic requirements are macOS 15 and Apple Silicon; Smart Rename needs macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence enabled in system settings.
