CompressO started as a video compression tool, but version 3.0 transforms it into something broader. The multiplatform open source app now includes full support for images, giving you a single tool for both.
It handles JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF formats with manual quality control for compression. Beyond compression itself, you get basic editing features: crop, rotate, and flip. You can also resize directly during export. If you work with vector graphics, the bidirectional SVG to raster conversion (and back) should come in handy.

The app runs entirely locally, no cloud uploads, no accounts, no tracking. It works on Linux, Windows, and macOS, built with Tauri and Rust. On macOS you might see a warning about the app being unverified, which is standard for free independent apps outside the App Store. Just right-click the icon and select “Open”, or install it via Homebrew without fuss.
CompressO is free to download from GitHub or the official website.
