Flow is an open source YouTube client for Android built on NewPipeExtractor, no ads and no Google account required, with SponsorBlock and DeArrow already baked in. Version 2.1.0, released on GitHub in the last few hours, is a solid update. Flow has been keeping a steady pace with regular, feature-packed releases, and this one follows that pattern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The standout addition is Deep Flow, a new incognito mode that lets you browse and play videos without leaving a trace in the app’s local history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Subscription groups arrive too, letting you organize your channels into custom categories. You also get automatic backups with the ability to export all your data in one go. Two fresh themes join the existing eleven: Monochromatic and Custom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The player got several upgrades. Playback speed now goes up to 4x with a dedicated slider and configurable presets. Three new gestures are in: swipe down to exit fullscreen, pinch or double tap to resize the mini player. SponsorBlock integration expands: segments can now be downloaded alongside the video. There’s a new toggle for the DeArrow indicator and another one to disable Shorts playback entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other additions include video search within a single channel, a filter to hide already watched videos from the feed, a region selector in the Explore tab, playlist merging, and a channel avatar picker with enlarged preview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This version adds cipher generation and PoToken support for better music streaming, borrowed from MetroList’s implementation. The muxer got optimized to speed up file merging during downloads, and mini player handling is smoother than before. There’s also a new diagnostics screen to collect error logs and app-wide crash reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fix list is long: 4K AV1 downloads, various crashes, status bar colors, the deprecated DeArrow endpoint, and several video player issues all got attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
