Stremio just released v5.0.0-beta.35, an update hitting both the desktop client and web version with a series of player improvements users have been asking for.
The most practical addition for daily use is keyboard media key support: play/pause, next track, and previous track now work inside Stremio. There’s also a new control for video zoom and scaling, helpful when content doesn’t fit your screen properly, plus a visual indicator for HDR content. On the subtitles side, the context menu gains options to download the file, copy the ID or direct link, and hovering over a subtitle now shows its name. Several bugs got fixed too: spacebar pause, priority of embedded subtitles, and some animations on WebKit browsers.
macOS sees the biggest jump
The macOS version (v5.1.21) gets full HDR support with proper EDR passthrough, meaning correct brightness handling on XDR displays and color correction. MPV was updated to the stable 5.0.3 release and, if something goes wrong at startup, the app now shows native error dialogs instead of silently vanishing.
On Windows (v5.0.21) the buffering indicator not appearing gets fixed, along with MPV error handling during streaming.
